Dr. Chris Seiple and Mr. Suhail Khan

Dr. Chris Seiple and Mr. Suhail Khan, May 13, 2009.  Socrates in San Francisco hosted a private salon in San Francisco in which Dr. Chris Seiple and Mr. Suhail Khan discussed contemporary religious conflict.  Dr. Seiple is President of the Institute for Global Engagement and Mr. Khan is the Senior Fellow for Christian-Muslim Understanding at the Institute for Global Engagement. (www.globalengage.org)  Dr. Sieple and Mr. Khan spoke on integrating religious understanding into political and social negotiations as a key, but generally neglected, element of progress in places like Pakistan's Northwest Frontier Province, Israel-Palestine and Syria.  Dr. Seiple is recognized authority with expertise in national and homeland security U.S. foreign policy, Central & East Asia, humanitarian intervention,, religion and international affairs, Muslim-Christian relations, and religious freedom.  He is a graduate of Stanford, the Naval Postgraduate School, and the Fletcher School for Law & Diplomacy, he is also the founder of The Review of Faith & International Affairs (www.rfiaonline.org), a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (Philadelphia), a member at the Council on Foreign Relations (New York), and a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (London). Mr. Khan is s a Washington, DC based attorney and has previously held many government positions. After the 2000 election, he aided the White House Office of Public Liaison in the President's outreach to Asian-American communities. He also served as Assistant to the Secretary for Policy under U.S. Secretary Mary Peters at the U.S. Department of Transportation. More recently, Mr. Khan served as a senior political appointee within the George W. Bush administration
